Red-Breasted Nuthatch

The long billed, short tailed Nuthatch dawns a rust colored belly, black cap on their head and tints of blue on their wings.

Don’t count on seeing them from year to year. Typically, Red-Breasted Nuthatches only travel south when evergreen cone production is down. Evergreen cone production usually varies on a two-year cycle.

Red-Breasted Nuthatches enjoy a variety of nuts and seeds. When Red-Breasted Nuthatches stop by your backyard they enjoy Black-oil Sunflower and Sunflower Chips. Patio Low Millet Blend in a platform feeder is sure to be enjoyed if Red-Breasted Nuthatches stop by over the winter.
